"Ups and Downs – Exchanges between Danish and German Art" delved into the Danish-German art history from the 1820s to the other side of the 20th century. It moved from a Danish-German community and artistic exchanges in the early 19th century to emerging nationalism, wars, and a cultural rupture. The exhibition focused on common inspirations in France and new artistic exchanges towards the new century, leading to a renewal of artistic expression in the 20th century, where both Danish and German artists had a desire for experimentation.
